Another entry in the “it’s not so bad” series. Sometimes, media is actually an influence for good.
Song of the Week: Even So Come by Passion
This was a pretty big radio hit a couple of years ago, so you may have heard it (many) times before. But the message of the song is one suited perfectly for our time. It paints an image of the body of Christ eagerly awaiting His return, united in their desire to see Him again. Take some time to meditate on the following words.
Like a bride waiting for her groom
We’ll be at Church ready for You
Every heart longing for our King
We sing “even so come.”
Media of the Week: The Case for Christ
Made by the same people who made God’s Not Dead, The Case for Christ is obviously based on the book by the same name. The story frames Lee Strobel’s investigation into the existence of Christ into a moving narrative of Strobel’s own journey from atheist to believer.
The movie is well-written and very well-acted, and provides some good apologetic material to discuss. Check it out here.
Book of the Week: Black by Ted Dekker
The first book in the Circle cycle, Black is the beginning of a modern allegory. Mirroring the story of the fall, the crucifixion, and God’s pursuing love, the Circle makes the story of Redemption feel new again. This was one of the first books I read in its genre, and it’s held a special place in my heart for years.
Dekker is an excellent writer, and if you start this book, be sure you’re ready to not put it down for a while.
